Mariana Carvalho

(São Paulo, 1994)

I studied piano bachelor’s at the University of São Paulo (2013-2017). I searched eutony and free improvisation (2016-2017) at a FAPESP’s scholarship, with Rogério Costa. I take part in Sonora – músicas e feminismos collaborative network (2016 -) and NuSom – Research Center on Sonology at USP (2017-). I participate in Orquestra Errante, a free improvisation group coordinated by Rogério Costa (2013 – ). I have classes of eutony and expressiveness with Miriam Dascal (2014 – ) and studied piano and eutony with Daniel Matos (2016). I took part in Coro Profana, vocal lab (2014-2018), Camerata Profana, contemporary music collective (2013 – 2017) and AANGA performative centre (2015 – 2016). I worked with music for theatre in Lacuna Coletiva (2016-2017) and Club Noir (2015-2016). I’ve played in Brasil, Argentina and Mexico.

I’m a pianist, improviser and performer, keen on body, gender and transdisciplinarities. I experiment objects inside the piano and explore corporealities via eutony. I’m interested in weaving sonic relations in space, installations, expanded sonic bodies, free improvisation, dance, voice.
