Chico Dub<\/h1>\n

Chico<\/span> Dub is a curator and artistic director with a focus on experimental music,\u00a0new trends and avant-garde music. He is the creator and curator of Novas Frequ\u00eancias, a festival\u00a0that happens since 2011, which integrates ICAS, an international network with more than 40\u00a0festivals based on\u00a0advanced sounds. He has been the curator for S\u00f3nar S\u00e3o Paulo (2012),\u00a0Festival Eletronika in Belo Horizonte (2013, 2014 and 2015), SESI Cultura Digital (2014 and\u00a02015) and Red Bull Music Academy (2014, 2015 and 2016), plus the Invas\u00e3o Paraense\u00a0and Invas\u00e3o Baiana series for the Banco do Brasil Cultural Centers of Bras\u00edlia, S\u00e3o Paulo and Rio de\u00a0Janeiro (2012, 2014 and 2015). In 2014 he coordinated the\u00a0cultural program\u00a0project for the new\u00a0Museum of Image and Sound (MIS) of Rio de Janeiro. He has created and been the curator of the\u00a0Hy Brazil compilations, which aims at mapping and advertising the new electronic and experimental\u00a0music production of Brazil. Thus far, it has released 10 volumes. He is a weekly columnist for\u00a0Minas Gerais Hoje<\/span> em Dia\u00a0newspaper and contributes monthly to a Portuguese radio program\u00a0called Ginga Beat (Red Bull Music Academy\/ Vodafone FM). He is the co-creator and screenwriter of\u00a0the documentary Dub Echoes, which was the first full feature film to show the importance of the\u00a0Jamaican dub for the birth of hip-hop and electronic music.<\/div>\n

\u00a0My job as a curator seeks to create an approximation of the universe around the experimental music umbrella with practices in Brazil more connected to contemporary art as a whole. I try to work with artists who never came before to Brazil and to commission projects for local artists, always with the goal of providing unique experiences for the audience. I dream of creating a more integrated experimental circuit in Brazil, with more support and incentives of public and private authorities.<\/div>\n

Even working with a specific niche, I try to be as open as possible, covering sounds the most varied possible in my curatorship. From techno to free improvisation; from noise to field recording; from electroacoustic to contemporary classical.<\/div>\n
